Instant Access, Lasting Impact: SELCO Community Credit Union Elevates Member Experience with Digital Issuance

As member expectations shift toward digital-first experiences, SELCO Community Credit Union recognized an opportunity to elevate its service delivery by embracing digital card issuance.

A Digital-First Mindset
Previously, members had to wait for their cards to arrive by mail or visit a branch for instant issuance. This created delays and friction, especially for those who opened accounts online or needed an immediate card replacement. SELCO set out to change that. The goal? Enable instant card provisioning to mobile wallets, reduce in-branch reissues and maintain a high standard of fraud protection. With support from MAP’s Project Implementation Team, SELCO turned that vision into reality.

Seamless Integration With MAP
The collaboration began with an in-depth assessment of SELCO’s core and digital banking platforms. The team explored digital provisioning capabilities and integrated Visa’s SDK to enable wallet provisioning. Prioritizing both security and usability, SELCO developed a strong business case for digital issuance – balancing both member convenience and operational efficiency.

“Thanks to the MAP team’s guidance, support, and project management, we successfully launched digital issuance, enabling us to offer technological capabilities comparable to those of major banks,” said John V Ryan, SELCO’s AVP of Information Services.

Real-Time Card Access, Real Results
The impact was immediate. Members who opened new accounts online or over the phone gained access to their cards almost instantly. If a card was lost, stolen, or compromised, a new one could be issued digitally, and there was no need to wait for a physical card.

“Digital card issuance enables SELCO to offer members who open a new account by phone or online instant access and the capability to offer immediate reissue of a lost, stolen, or potentially compromised card,” said Lee Anne Brockelman, Director of Operations Support.
